Well, for a multitude of reasons, this is the first time since we launched this webpage that I have tried to post some current news. Please check back from time to time for future postings.
I am constantly amazed at how wide-reaching our ministry is. Not only do we donate books to Episcopal churches and other ministries all over the world, we also acquire books from everywhere. A current example: a very historic parish – St. James Church in Elmhurst, Queens – does a wonderful job ministering to the growing population of Chinese immigrants in its neighborhood. In order to enable the worship needs of its Chinese members they recently asked us for a grant of copies of the bi-lingual Book of Common Prayer, and copies of the Bible in Chinese. As a further reflection of their diversity, they requested that some of the Bibles be in traditional Chinese script and some in contemporary script. The BCP’s came from our local publishing house. The Bibles had to be imported from a publishing house in Hong Kong!
Other recent grants have gone to parishes in Southampton, PA, Greensboro, NC and San Jose, CA; to the Diocese of Arizona for their Hispanic ministry and the Diocese of South Dakota for their ministry on Indian reservations.
Our society for more than two hundred years has been enabling and providing for the worshipping needs of congregations everywhere. We will be happy to consider a grant request from your congregation. And we will be very happy to accept a donation if you would like to assist us in our ministry.
